The geographical database

Part of the district, especially the area around the municipalities of Nègrepelisse, Bruniquel and Montricoux, was studied. The Pays Midi-Quercy, the Conseil Général (the Départemental Council), the Conseil Régional (the Regional Council) and the CPIE are undertaking a joint assessment of the various ways in which the inventory's data, a real 'knowledge tool', can be put to use by local authorities.

The digitization of the cadastral map by the Conseil Général du Tarn-et-Garonne

The Conseil Général de Tarn-et-Garonne has been working on the digitization of the cadastral map of the département since 2004. All local authorities are able to consult the cadastral map, which features data collated by the IGN (France's national mapping agency) and water and electricity networks, through the Conseil Général's extranet.

We wished to add the data contained in the inventory to the information managed by this geographical database, which would allow us to make this data accessible to a wider audience.

The objective is to give elected representatives:

  • the opportunity to have precise, up-to-date information about local heritage: from the out-of-the-ordinary (châteaux, churches,...) to the more common (village/town houses, farms, other elements of minor heritage,...)
  • to cross-reference cadastral map data, town planning and heritage-related regulations
  • to faciliate the carrying out of studies and decision-making and also to provide users with a better service
  •

The partnership that was officially created in 2009 following this successful trial has taken a scientific approach to understanding heritage and allied it with town and country planning and development tools.
